AB 93 Call Script

“Hi, my name is _________ and I live in __________. I want to urge Assemblymember _________ to vote YES on AB 93.

I support AB 93 because:

• Police should not be able to search a person or their car without evidence of wrongdoing or a reason to suspect that person of a crime.
• Because officers can just decide who and when to search, these searches are vulnerable to bias and disproportionately harm people of color.
• Evidence shows that these searches are NOT effective at finding evidence or protecting public safety, but they do disproportionately harm people of color.
• This will limit police interactions and prevent police stops from escalating into something far more invasive and dangerous.
• Californians who are just trying to get to work, take care of our families, and move about our communities deserve the right to be free from discriminatory police fishing expeditions that disrupt our lives, cause trauma, and harm public safety.
