ACLU to Host Press Conference at California State Capitol in Response to President Elect Trump’s Inaugural Address

SACRAMENTO, CA – Across the nation, the national ACLU and its affiliates are working with state and local officials to pass essential legislation to defend and protect constituents from the Trump administration’s extremist agenda.
One day following Trump’s swearing-in and inaugural address, ACLU leaders will gather in Sacramento at the California State Capitol over two days to meet and call on state policymakers to lead the nation and advance the following priorities:
- Defend immigrant communities against divisive and dangerous enforcement operations;
- Protect California residents from invasive and discriminatory surveillance;
- Bolster resources for people who are unhoused and other programs that advance true public safety;
- Safeguard privacy, freedom of expression and constitutional rights for all residents.
WHAT:
A press conference where leaders from the national ACLU and ACLU California Action as well as members and activists from California affiliates will gather at the California State Capitol to announce their legislative priorities in response to Trump’s inauguration.
