AB 742 Restrict K-9 Force Call Script

“Hi, my name is _________ and I live in __________. I want to urge Assemblymember _________ to vote YES on AB 742.

I support AB 742 because:

• AB 742 will restrict the deeply racialized, traumatic, and harmful practice of using police canines to attack people and to terrify and intimidate at public demonstrations.
• Ending police brutality includes ending cruel, inhumane, and unnecessary uses of canines to maul people.
• California Assembly Bill 742 says that police canines should not be used for arrest, apprehension, or crowd control except to avoid the use of deadly force or to defend against a lethal threat by the person.
• The use of police canines makes people fear and further distrust the police, resulting in less safety and security for all – especially communities of color. Californians, and our dogs, deserve better.
